Oneonta Gorge
We headed out to the Columbia River Gorge this weekend and did a couple fun hikes. Saturday we did this short one that is pretty popular and thus busy on nice days. It is less than a mile into the waterfall with only a big log jam and a couple of chest deep wades through some mountain fresh(cold) water as obstacles.

Mary captured my expression as I saw the mess of people climbing over what they seemed to think was the equivalent to Mount Everest. Lots of overzealous dads barking orders at kids and plenty of bickering spouses.

A nice cool dip under the waterfall was worth the crowds.

Then it was beer time. You might notice I am wearing a hat, this is my new conductor hat. Mary bought it for me to help me stay cool both in the sun and in the shade.
|
The best part about the Hood River area is all the orchards and fruit stands.
