Coos Bay: Clams and Crabs

We got up early and headed to Coos bay with Tod and Leo

Morning fog burning off
We had a couple experts showing us some tricks.  This is Leo coaching up Mary.

The Gaper's were deep

Sam and Tod
Clamtastic

Gapers, cockle, and Martha Washington clams
Mary loved how the water shot up from their holes when you stepped next to them.

Four limits of Clams.
Loading back up to catch some crabs
All baited up

Mary was our good luck, all the pots she pulled had keepers.
A little Rock Crab
Mary having a blast
More eaters

She earned her salt on this trip.
Gaper clam neck……yep.
We drove back to Roseburg and then it was time to work.
Lots of knowledge from our Fish and Wildlife friends.
Gaper necks on the left and Martha Washington's for the grill on the right.

From the ocean to the table.
Tod and Jessica are on the left while Tod's wife, Jeanine, is taking the picture They are the family that welcomed Mary into their home during her six weeks in Roseburg.  An amazing family that couldn't have been anymore accommodating to the two of us, and showed Mary a great time while she was staying.  Leo, a family friend, is holding the crab.  It was a really amazing day topped off by a meal that will be tough to match anywhere.
